BP's complex process of sealing the well
Tags: The BP oil spill has been contained by a giant cap sealed clasped over the bursting oil well. BP’s next step involves placing a 30-foot capping stack next to the well, over the underground wellbore (the 2.5 mile long underground oil reservoir). The stack will determine if there are other holes leaking oil in the wellbore or if the major well is the only leak.
High pressure within the wellbore indicates there are no additional leaks, while low pressure indicates that oil is leaking out through some other source, since the well has been capped. Following the prognosis, future actions will be taken to seal up the holes in the wellbore or to permanently remove oil from the wellbore and seal it up. What do you think? All Votes
